Three greenhouses with more than 1,500 marijuana plants were dismantled in various homes in Santo Domingo Este, by the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) and the prosecution.
The DNCD spokesperson; Carlos Devers, reported that they also occupied several buckets full of vegetables and planted a large number of bags during the germination process.
The operation deployed at the Rivera del Caribe Residential, on Marginal Avenue, near the entrance to the Juan Pablo II highway, carried out four simultaneous raids, arresting a woman and three men, one of them the Haitian. nationality.
Twelve elite teams from the DNCD and five prosecutors took part in the joint operation, wherever they seized, six conservatory tents, reflector lights, extension cords, hoods, fans, transformers, an air conditioning and drip system for the plants, fertilizer, compost, a 12-gauge shotgun with assorted ammunition, electronic equipment, personal documents, alongside other evidence.
Authorities have been monitoring this illicit drug trafficking network for several months and, according to preliminary reports, they operated in Santo Domingo and much of the eastern part of the country.
The homes, as well as other evidence used in the operation, remained in the custody of the prosecution service as part of the investigation..
The DNCD and the prosecution are activating the location of other members of this network dedicated to the cultivation, preparation and sale of marijuana.
The putative marijuana plants, with a height of one to three feet, as well as wraps and plants in the germination process, were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
Authorities warn that they will continue to close the gate to arrest and bring to justice members of the networks involved in illicit drug trafficking, money laundering, organized crime and other related crimes.
