COE reports 30 road accidents in the past hours with three deaths and 48 victims

The figures on traffic accidents and intoxications from alcohol consumption are most predominant this Thursday of Christmas Eve.

The Director of the Operations and Emergency Center (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez, this morning reported 30 accidents that occurred during the Christmas operation “Commitment for Life 2020” which started yesterday Wednesday at 2 PM and ended at 6 PM in the morning this Thursday.

Three people traveling in their vehicles were killed in these accidents. One of the dead fell in Boca Chica and the other two in Bonao. While the number of accident victims is 48.

The number of accidents involved 22 motorcycles, the highest number of vehicles involved. The others correspond to 7 light vehicles and 2 heavy vehicles.

On the other hand, Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata are the provinces that top the list for alcohol intoxication care from yesterday Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

In total, 21 people were treated for intoxication due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages and at least 26 people for food poisoning.

Méndez considered that the number of accidents registered in less than 24 hours is “very high” because there was a higher traffic flow during the Christmas holidays.
