Following the acquisition, Digital Extremes quickly insisted that this should not affect WarframeThe direction is concerned. In a post on its site, Digital Extremes says “WWe will remain creatively independent … Tencent is known for respecting the creative decisions and integrity of its studios and giving them the autonomy and independence to experiment, innovate and thrive. “

As for the future of WarframeGives Digital Extremes a few details. The developer says it is “focused on expanding the next generation of consoles (Xbox Series X / S), innovating with The New War, continuing intense space combat (Corpus Railjack), and more surprises in 2021.” Digital Extremes will also partner with Tencent to develop the Chinese version of Warframe up to speed with the western version.

The Tencent acquisition affects more teams than just Digital Extremes. This buyout includes Splash Damage (Gears tactic developer), Athlon Games, Kingmaker, Radiance and 20 percent of Certain Affinity (co-developer of Halo infinite).
