Hidalgo and Turner will be joined by Dr. Sherri Onyiego, director of nutrition and chronic disease prevention at Harris County Public Health and Dr. David Persse, Chief Medical Officer of the City of Houston.

“People are barely holding out now,” said Houston’s Jason Millis.
While new COVID-19 restrictions have just been announced that will affect Galveston and other Southeast Texas counties, many are hoping this won’t be the case in Houston.

“Everyone’s just trying to survive and it’s hard,” said Sammie Tran with Vietopia in southwest Houston.
Tran has seen many friends up close and says it has been heartbreaking. A new closure or scaling back could force more to close their doors for good.
“When we took out, it wasn’t enough. We need people to drink,” said Tran.
Cuchara in Montrose has also held out. They expanded out to give their customers peace of mind while eating.
“It has been very difficult from the start. We cut a lot of people in time,” said Lorena Tejeda, Cuchara’s general manager.
Fortunately, no one has been let go, but it is always a frightening thought. Cuchara has lost about 40% of its sales since the pandemic.
