Chyno Miranda gave details of the disease he has been fighting since the beginning of the year, which affected his mobility and even made him question the future of his career and what would become of his life.

The health condition of the well-known Venezuelan singer, who formed a renowned urban music duo with his fellow countryman Nacho, started to worry his fans last November.

In a statement, his relatives revealed that what started as “brief but intense discomfort in the hands and legs” resulted in very severe pain, to the point that the singer was “unable to walk”.

Little has since been known about the health of Chyno, who was undergoing rehabilitation and had already been released from hospital. This week, the singer broke the silence and told People en Español magazine details about his illness.

There, the Venezuelan revealed he was infected with covid-19 in March, when the pandemic had just hit the Americas. Seven months after beating the coronavirus, which caused him “extreme muscle pain and lack of oxygen,” the singer’s health deteriorated.

“I started to feel numbness and severe pain in my legs,” Chyno told the magazine. This happened while he was with his wife, Natasha Araos, walking to their car. At that moment he stopped feeling his lower limbs and had to sit up.

“The discomfort increased to the point that the pain one night while he slept was unbearable,” the media reveal.

That day Chyno felt a strong cramp in his legs, so intense that he fell out of bed. That was the warning sign that prompted his family to take him to the hospital.

“When we decided to hospitalize him, he was unable to move,” Araos said in the interview.

Although the singer was suffering from Covid-19 and recovered from the disease in March, the effects on his body got worse seven months later.

Peripheral neuropathy

In the health center, they revealed what had happened after several analyzes. “Covid-19 caused a compromise in the nervous system that (turned) peripheral neuropathy,” said Miranda.

This condition occurs when nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord, also called peripheral nerves, are damaged as a result of injury, infection, toxins, metabolic problems, or diseases such as diabetes.

As a result of this damage, symptoms such as weakness, pain, and numbness occur in the limbs of the body.

In the case of Jesús Alberto Miranda, Chyno’s first name, the damage had affected his legs.

‘Imagine, in a bed, without walking, the first thing I thought was,’ my artistic career is over ‘,’ ‘the singer recalled.

His wife’s support was essential to get out of the situation. Although forbidden to enter the hospital for the first days due to the pandemic, she was able to see her husband every three days and even take the couple’s little one-year-old Lucca, the couple’s son.

“The recovery started with in-hospital therapies for a whole month. (Today) they give me a forecast that it might be better in March. They tell me the evolution has been very great. Jesus has given all of himself,” stressed Natasha Araos.

The singer faithfully follows his therapy, which he now performs at home under the supervision of a physiotherapist. “Today he walks much better. He’s almost 90 percent. The pain is diminishing,” said Chyno’s wife.

With great optimism, the Venezuelan hopes that his recovery will continue, in order to fulfill the dream of returning to the stage in 2021 and taking the long-awaited reunion tour with his partner Nacho.
