Justin Bieber heads to the LA studio amid a bid for UK Christmas number one with partnership with NHS Choir

He recently teamed up with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir to release a charity rendition of him and Chance the Rapper’s mega hit Holy.

And Justin Bieber was back in creative mode on Friday, on his way to a recording studio in Burbank, California.

The Canadian pop superstar, 26, stepped out in casually cool style wearing a black smiley-faced T-shirt from his Drew clothing line with a logo track suit.

Wearing a white knitted hat from the brand resting atop his wavy long mane, the Sorry hitmaker rounded off his relaxed ensemble with white Nike basketball shoes.

The star’s outing comes as he makes a bid for the UK’s coveted Christmas number one after working with NHS singers to rework his song Holy.

In 2015, the star was beaten by the choir when their charity single, A Bridge Over You, became the UK’s Christmas number one following his hit Love Yourself.

At the time, the singer had encouraged his millions of Twitter followers to buy the NHS song to help it reach the top of the charts.

Justin and the choir recently reunited to record the new version of Holy, with all profits going to NHS Charities Together and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Charity – to support medical workers at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The choir recorded the new song at the iconic Abbey Road studios in London, with Justin saying: ‘It’s great to be reunited with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir as we share a fun slice of UK chart history together.

“ Especially in these troubled times, I feel humbled to work with them on a charity single that will benefit NHS workers on the front lines of this pandemic and pay tribute to their incredible dedication. ”

Caroline Smith, pediatric physiotherapist and leader of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, added: ‘Justin Bieber helped make our dreams come true in 2015 and he’s doing the same this year.

‘We really can’t thank him enough for the opportunity to work with him on this wonderful, uplifting song. We are so proud to represent Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and all the heroes in the NHS. ‘

In 2015, Justin was critically acclaimed for echoing his selfless gesture: “ So for 1 week it’s okay not to be # 1. Let’s do the right thing and help them win. It’s Christmas. @Choir_NHS good luck. (sic) ‘

The ‘Yummy’ singer later met with the members of the choir to congratulate them.

The contenders had been neck-and-neck for a week in 2015, with just 622 sales between them on Christmas Eve – but the chorus got a late boost, taking them to the top of the Christmas chart with 31,000 singles.

They ended with total combined ticket sales of more than 127,000 copies. Bieber, on the other hand, has sold approximately 97,000 copies of his single, according to a press release to MailOnline.

The # 1 battle for Christmas came the closest since Rage Against The Machine’s scintillating victory over The X Factor’s Joe McElderry in 2009 with their song, Killing In The Name.

The NHS choir of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, midwives and administrative staff was founded in 2012 by TV chorister Gareth Malone on his program ‘The Choir: Sing while you work’.

In May, Justin donated the profits from Stuck With U, his charity single featuring Ariana Grande, to the First Responders Children’s Foundation, an American charity, which supports relief workers and their families.

While Justin is clearly excited about Christmas, the singer-songwriter is also just as excited about his upcoming New Year’s Eve performance.

‘Prepping for New Years see you there,’ captioned Bieber, who shared a rehearsal photo with his fans on Tuesday.

He started sharing teasers of the performance for the first time on Monday, writing: ‘Get ready for this New Year’s live show, be sure to check it out’

Earlier this year, Bieber released his fifth studio album Changes, which featured his hit single Yummy.

It is unclear whether or not the star will be playing / debuting new songs on his New Year’s Eve, or whether he will give fans a sneak peek at what he planned for his Changes Tour.

Prior to the conclusion of the coronavirus pandemic in March, Justin planned to tour his latest record, with the first tour date being June 2.

But unfortunately, the tour was forcibly postponed due to concerns about the health and safety of COVID-19.
