GoPro has also revealed some major updates, most notably to the latest Hero 9 Black. Firmware version 1.5 increases smartphone offload speeds by up to 30 percent via the GoPro app, saving valuable transfer times. It also improved Hypersmooth 3.0 performance in the cold, added a slo-mo shortcut slider, improved GPS locking accuracy, and introduced pro 3.5mm microphone support via an adapter. Finally, GoPro has added live streaming support with the Max Lens Mod, allowing you to use Hypersmooth stabilization, an ultra-wide 155-degree Max SuperView perspective, and an in-camera horizon lock with live streaming.

Firmware updates for the Hero 8 Black and GoPro Max also improve wireless transfer speeds by 15 and 20 percent respectively. You must update the firmware for all of these cameras to use the remote control as well. The remote is available now on the GoPro site in North America for $ 80 and will arrive in other regions in February 2021.
