Eredivisie Charged for discrediting the game

Edinson Cavani has been charged by the English Football Association about his use of the Spanish word “negrito” in an Instagram post.
Cavani replied to a comment from a friend, but his response was assessed as “offensive and / or insulting and / or inappropriate and / or brought the game into disrepute”.
The governing body of the English game also alleges “that the comment constitutes an aggravated infringement” that “included a reference, express or implied, to color and / or race and / or ethnic origin”.
If found guilty, Cavani can be banned for three games. The Uruguayan posted the comment after his Manchester United Side’s 3-2 comeback win over Southampton on November 29, in which he scored twice.
Cavani deleted the message and issued an apology, but the FA their investigation continued, and now the 33-year-old could spend time on the sidelines.
Cavani has until January 4 to respond to the misconduct charges.
United have defended their player by claiming that there was “no malicious intent” and that they are “committed to the fight against racism”.
