WASHINGTON – Honda Motor Co said Tuesday that it is recalling 1.79 million vehicles worldwide in four separate campaigns, including some related to reported fires.
The recalls affect 1.4 million vehicles in the United States.
The Japanese automaker said a recall involved 268,000 CR-V vehicles of model year 2002-2006 in the United States to replace master switches for power windows. Honda said no injuries had been reported, but 16 fires were related to the problem.

Honda carried out an earlier recall of power window master switches in 2012. The new recall is in response to moisture-related breakdowns from switches that were repaired during the previous campaign.
Honda is also recalling approximately 735,000 US 2018-2020 Accord, Accord Hybrid and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles to update the Body Control Module software. A programming error can disrupt communication, illuminating various warning lights and malfunctioning electronic components such as “the rear view camera display, turn signals and windshield wipers.”

Honda is also issuing two recalls for 430,000 US vehicles in 22 US states and the District of Columbia with significant road salt used to inspect and possibly replace front drive shafts. Both are in response to possible breakage of the drive shafts due to corrosion. No injuries have been reported in connection with any of the recalls, the company said.
Honda said repair parts are not available for all vehicles involved in the driveshaft recalls. The recalls affect some Honda Civic Hybrid 2012, Honda Fit 2007-2014, Acura ILX 2013-2015, Acura ILX Hybrid 2013 and Honda Accord 2013-2015. No crashes in the driveshaft or software recalls have been reported.
