Microsoft Authenticator can now store and autofill passwords for mobile devices

Microsoft’s Authenticator on mobile will soon be updated with password management and autofill, the company announced (as seen by Thurott). The passwords are synchronized with your Microsoft account with Outlook, Hotmail and other Redmond products. It allows you to select Microsoft as the autofill provider and then sync passwords on apps or websites to Microsoft’s Edge browser or Google Chrome, through a new Chrome extension.

Until now, Authenticator has been largely useful as a two-factor authentication app. However, with autocomplete and password management, it is a legitimate replacement for Google’s autofill and password manager. That should be especially helpful for companies or individuals working on the Microsoft Office ecosystem rather than Google G-Suite (now Google Workspace).
