Amazon’s Jeff Bezos doesn’t make the cut; Google’s Sundar Pichai returns to the top 3

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, HubSpot CEO Brian Halligan and Google CEO Sundar Pichai were among the top three CEOs for large companies in 2020, according to career data website Comparably.

The website ranked the top CEOs of the year in the annual list derived from employee ratings.

“This year, with COVID-19, what set a precedent for many people was companies that were able to navigate a very challenging, once-in-a-lifetime business environment,” said Jason Nazar, CEO of Comparably. “The CEOs who managed to run their businesses successfully with minimal impact on their teams stood out on the list.”

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world, did not make the list, ranking 41st best CEO in Comparably’s 2019 list.

The list cites the top 50 CEOs of large companies with more than 500 employees and small / medium companies with 500 employees or less.

Company employees anonymously rated their CEOs on Comparably.com between December 1, 2019 and December 1, 2020. Comparable to more than 10 million reviews from 60,000 US companies.

Pay gap: Top 1% saw their wages increase by 160% since 1979

COVID-19 Aid Package: No incentive checks, but it would add a $ 300 boost to federal unemployment benefits

In July, Comparably also released a list of the top CEOs in 2020 for diversity and inclusion. The list, released during the Black Lives Matter protest, ranked Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, RingCentral CEO Vlad Shmunis and Google CEO Sundar Pichai among the top leaders creating inclusive work cultures.
