Nearly one hundred Central American and Cuban migrants have been detained by authorities from Mexico after arriving at the airport in the northern city of Monterrey with no documents proving that he regularly resides in the country, the government reported Saturday.

Agents from the National Migration Institute (INM) on Friday identified 70 Hondurans, 14 Guatemalans, six Salvadorans and five Cubans arriving on two commercial flights at Monterrey International Airport, Nuevo León – a border state with the United States. One was from Villahermosa, Tabasco, while the other was from Cancun, Quintana Roo, two states to the Southeast.

The majority (72 out of 95) apparently arrived in 27 family groups “of between two and five members each,” the Department of the Interior (Internal Affairs), on which the INM depends, detailed in a statement.

Eight members of the group are unaccompanied minors – four from Honduras, three from El Salvador and one from Guatemala – and were under the tutelage of the Comprehensive Family Development System, which will also serve and house the 27 families, he added . .

The remaining 15 adults, three women and 12 men, were transferred to an immigration station in Nuevo León to begin the process of returning to their countries of origin.
