7 apps to get the most out of your streaming music subscription

There are plenty of music streaming services to choose from, and these services are inspiring a growing number of add-ons and companion apps designed to help you get even more for your subscription money, by finding new things to listen to, or by helping you store songs enjoyed.

That means you’re not limited to just the features in Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, or whatever streaming platform you’ve signed up for, as you can also use tools that run on top of these services to provide additional features and options beyond what you get by default.

Some of these tools can actually be used with any music streaming service, while others target one platform in particular. Here are some of our current favorites that we hope you’ll find useful.

Songpocket (for iPhone and iPad) connects directly to the Music app on your phone or tablet, giving you more control over how your music is arranged. In other words, you don’t have to settle for the automatic order and grouping that Apple imposes on you – you can put your favorite artists at the top, group albums the way you want, and so on.

The app works with everything in the default Music app, whether it’s synced from the Apple Music streaming catalog or imported from elsewhere. When you first open the app, you’ll see all your music organized by artist name, and from there you can start rearranging the lists and moving albums between groups you’ve created yourself.
