69 Wake County students test positive for coronavirus within a week :: WRAL.com

According to the district’s coronavirus dashboard, more than 100 Wake County employees and students tested positive for coronavirus in one week.

Sixty-nine students were tested positive for coronavirus from December 10 to December 16, and 59 employees tested positive.

The first coronavirus cluster was also reported within the Lynn Road Elementary School district. Three staff members and two students tested positive from the school.

The week before – from December 3 to December 9 – more than 80 cases of the virus were reported in the district.

According to the dashboard, most cases are spread over several schools in the district. The Wake County Board of Education on Tuesday approved a staff recommendation that all students return to distance learning only to complete the fall semester.

All students transition to online learning from January 4 to January 15, when the semester ends.

Since Thanksgiving, Wake County has seen an increase in the number of reported cases of the virus. More than 400 cases were reported in Wake County on Wednesday. At the same time last month, only 232 cases of the virus were reported in a day.
