Publisher 505 has picked up the spiritual successor to Suikoden Eiyuden Chronicle.
Eiyuden Chronicle, a new Japanese role-playing game from some of the main creators of the beloved 1990s JRPG Suikoden, launched a Kickstarter on July 27, 2020 asking for ¥ 53,808,516 (approximately £ 370,202). The crowdfunding drive quickly broke that goal, reaching ¥ 481,621,841 (about £ 3.4 million) from 46,307 backers.
The game will feature a traditional six-character combat system with 2D sprites, 3D backgrounds and a story written by Suikoden 1 and 2 screenwriter Yoshitaka Murayama.

Recent games published by 505 include Bloodstained, the PC version of Death Stranding and Remedy’s Control, the latter of which received a backlash over the next-generation upgrade policy and the related Ultimate Edition.
“Given the success and history of 505 Games with titles such as Bloodstained and Death Stranding and the strong personal relationship we’ve built with the people there, we feel like we have the perfect partner,” said Murayama.
Eiyuden Chronicle is set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2022.
