5 benefits beyond the $ 1,400 federal stimulus package

The federal House of Representatives today passed by private vote the new economic stimulus package for COVID-19, and now only President Joe Biden’s signature is missing before they start distributing aid.

One of the most compelling incentives is the $ 1,400 check, which will reach the majority of citizens.

However, the package includes multiple federal grants that you could benefit from. Here we describe five:

  1. Parents in Puerto Rico They get access to the “Child Tax Credit (CTC)”. Measure expanding the 2021 child tax credit to $ 3,000 per child ($ 3,600 for children under 6)
  2. Extension to unemployment benefits. The new package continues the $ 300 weekly aid for the unemployed through September 6, and provides a tax credit for those benefits up to $ 10,200.
  3. It’s covered 600 hours of emergency leave paid to federal employees for quarantine or care of family members affected by COVID.
  4. Emergency Relief Fund for Higher Education will receive $ 39.6 billion for public and private colleges and universities struggling to recoup lost income after campus closure, including those emergency financial aid for students.
  5. Increases student incentive per meal by $ 119. This increases students’ access to food aid during the school year and summer months.

Following the adoption of the package, Biden is expected to sign the measure in the coming hours and in the process of getting these benefits flowing among citizens.
