According to KNBR’s John Lund, colleague Greg Papa reports that the San Francisco 49ers have a four-year $ 80 million deal on the table for an offensive tackle Trent Williams. Dad speculates, however, that that amount may not be enough to keep the eight-fold Pro Bowler. The play-by-play radio announcer reportedly states that the team will likely have to raise the bid to keep the player.

Williams is expected to be a big draw. NFL Network reported this morning that the offensive lineman was nowhere near the start of free agency. He was on vacation in Mexico, but has since returned.
San Francisco exchanged for Williams during the draft last year. After a year off from football, he replaced a retiring Joe Staley in the left tackle. Williams had a fantastic season, being Pro Football Focus’s top-tier and second-highest attacking lineman.
Williams turns 33 in July, but expects to play for many more years to come.
“I am certainly ready for another, in my opinion, six seasons in which I can play at a high level,” Williams said recently. The Cris Collinsworth Podcast during a conversation with teammate Richard Sherman “That’s roughly how I look at it.”
