SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health reported 460 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state Saturday, along with 10 more deaths and 27,583 more vaccines administered.
That brings Utah to 384,173 total cases, 2,101 deaths and 1,289,691 vaccines administered since the start of the pandemic. Of the vaccines administered, 470,905 Utahns are considered “fully” vaccinated – meaning they received two doses of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one dose of a Johnson & Johnson injection.
In the past week, the state has an average of 419 more cases per day and a positive test rate of 3.7%. There are currently 137 Utahns hospitalized for COVID-19, including 56 in intensive care.
Saturday’s figures come as 14,289 more tests were conducted in Utah. Six of the 10 deaths reported Saturday occurred before March 1, according to the health department. The 10 deaths include:
- A Beaver County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized when he died
- A Davis County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
- A Salt Lake County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
- A woman over 85 from Davis County living in a long-term care facility
- A Salt Lake County man over 85 living in a long-term care facility
- A Salt Lake County woman over 85 living in a long-term care facility
- A woman over 85 from Utah County who was not hospitalized when she died
- A woman over 85 in Utah County living in a long-term care facility
- A Washington County man aged 65 to 84 who was not hospitalized when he died
- A woman from Weber County between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
The health department’s coronavirus website says there are currently five long-term care facilities in Utah with active outbreaks among residents.
Beginning Wednesday, all Utahns ages 16 and older are eligible to schedule an appointment to be vaccinated against COVID-19. More information is available at coronavirus.utah.gov/vaccine-distribution.
