447 more COVID-19 cases, 1 death, 31K vaccinations reported Saturday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – According to the Utah Department of Health, COVID-19 cases in Utah jumped 447 on Saturday, with one death and 31,000 more vaccinations.

The moving seven-day average number of positive cases per day now stands at 406, according to the health department. The positive test rate per day for that period reported with the “people over people” method is now 6.8%. The positive test percentage per seven-day daily mean, calculated with the “test over test” method, is now 3.4%.

There are now 132 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 44 in intensive care units, state data shows. According to the health department, about 65.4% of all hospital beds in the Utah intensive care unit are occupied, including about 69.3% of the intensive care beds in the state’s 16 referral hospitals. About 52.8% of Utah’s non-IC hospital beds are now occupied.

A total of 1,481,363 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, up from 1,450,263 Friday.

The only death reported Saturday was a man in Utah County aged 65-84. He died in the hospital.

Saturday’s totals give Utah a total of 386,997 confirmed cases, with 15,593 total hospitalizations and 2,132 total deaths from the disease.
