$ 300 COVID-19 unemployment benefits are slowly giving way to Michigan residents

The battle to collect unemployment benefits goes on for many Michigan residents, but state officials said the $ 300 COVID-19 bonus coming soon.

It’s money that many people are waiting for, and raising money from unemployment insurance has been a frustrating challenge.

You can hear of a resident fighting UIA in the Help Me Hank report above.

The $ 300 that many Michiganders owe is part of it the $ 900 billion stimulus package. State officials said the money is slowly but surely making its way to Michigan.

UIA officials admit there were problems with the release of funds.

“These employees need to be sure that they will not miss out on any benefits and receive every dollar they are entitled to once the programs are fully implemented,” said a UIA spokesperson.

According to the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, the state began to make the payments to about 365,000 prosecutors this weekend.

The pandemic unemployment compensation payments will run from December 27, 2020 to March 13, 2021. They offer an additional $ 300 in benefits per week to Michigan claimants who were negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Claimants do not need to take any action to receive the additional payments. They are paid automatically after they are certified.

“The UIA team worked tirelessly to ensure that Michigan was one of the first states to implement the PUC program,” said Acting UIA Director Liza Estlund Olson. “Now that we have received additional USDOL guidelines, we remain committed to implementing the remaining federal PUA and PEUC programs as soon as possible to get money out the door.”
