Over the past year, researchers have been busy determining who, what, when, and why of post-COVID syndrome, which can often be debilitating. Now, a new one study published in the magazine on Friday JAMA Network Open, has found that a surprising number of people do not fully recover – 30 percent to be exact – still experience symptoms for up to nine months after infection. The majority of them, 84.7 percent, were not even hospitalized because they had mild forms of the disease. 1. They feel a severe fatigue

One of the most common complaints from long-haul vehicles is excessive fatigue. According to the study, 24 of the 177 patients (13.6 percent) reported fatigue.

2. They have a loss of sense of taste or smell

Loss of senses is one of the hallmark symptoms of COVID-19. However, some people find that they don’t return after their initial infection. 24 patients (13.6 percent) reported this long-lasting symptom.

3. They cough

In many COVID infections, the individuals are unable to stop coughing. While the cough generally clears up, 13 percent of those surveyed claim it lasted much longer than their initial infection. And of those hospitalized, 80 percent reported a prolonged cough.

4. They have trouble breathing

Shortness of breath is one of the main symptoms of COVID-19, and for many, it doesn’t stop. 13 percent reported having difficulty breathing even while performing a normal activity, such as daily chores. This number rose to more than 80 percent for those hospitalized with the virus.

5. They have muscle pain

Muscle pain was noted by 13 percent of the respondents.

6. They have brain fog

Brain fog was reported by just over 2.3 percent of COVID patients. According to many long-distance travelers, this neurological symptom is one of the most debilitating symptoms that makes them unable to perform daily tasks.

8. What to do if you think you are a long-haul transporter

If you are still suffering from any of these symptoms weeks after your initial COVID-19 diagnosis, you should call your doctor to discuss treatment. Plus, there are other resources – including post-COVID clinics and support groups like Survivor Corps on Facebook – that can help with treatment.
