3 meter high cannibal crocodile eats an unfortunate smaller beast

A 4-meter-long Nile crocodile made mincemeat of a much smaller cousin in South Africa, wild new images show.

Shutterbug Jan Butter from Amsterdam witnessed the snack attack in Kruger National Park and captured the moment when the hangry reptile turned cannibal.

“It was the first time I’d ever seen something like this with a crocodile,” Butter, 69, told Sun Monday. “We were on the road to Kruger for 10 days. We sat by the water for about 30 minutes waiting for the crocodiles to show up. “

And when they did, it was the huge beast that put down dinner and the show, sinking its four-inch teeth into its doomed relative.

“In the space of about a minute, he tightened his grip and dragged him into the water to eat,” recalls Butter, who was about 30 meters from the main course. “With his dinner in tow, the crocodile swam away.”

Nile crocodiles can grow as long as 20 feet and weigh up to 1,650 pounds, but usually average closer to 16 feet and 500 pounds.

They generally eat fish, but will attack “almost anything” in their path, according to National Geographic, including zebras, small hippos and their own kind.
