2021 MacBook Pro ransom leak does not show Touch Bar, I / O layout details

We continue to learn more about what Apple has in store for the MacBook Pro 2021 update. As explained earlier, a hacker group called REvil is currently blackmailing Apple supplier Quanta. The group has released detailed documents with the 2021 MacBook Pro logic board, including details and images of new ports.

Images of the MacBook are mockups created by Parker Ortolani from 9to5Mac based on the documents.

Reports of both Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo had previously indicated that the new MacBook Pro models would add additional ports. These documents contain multiple references to the code names “J314” and “J316”, which are Bloomberg has previously reported representing the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with Apple Silicon inside.

On the right, the documents show an HDMI port, a USB-C port and an SD card slot. On the left, the documents indicate that there will be a MagSafe connector, two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. Specifically, this means that there will be one less USB-C port on the 2021 MacBook Pro than on the current model.

The documents also show that the 2021 MacBook Pro is without a Touch Bar, which has once again been reported by sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo. To the right of the feature row is still a Touch ID button, similar to the current MacBook Air.

It is also important to remember the source of this leak. This is a sensitive topic, and 9to5Mac only publishes details about what is readily available. The documents do not contain any form of product images, so there is nothing to glean about the form factor changes that may have in store for the 2021 MacBook Pro. The documents are intended to show technical details about the Mac, rather than design details.

Only a handful of files have been released so far, but REvil threatens to release more in the coming days. The documents include detailed schematics of the 2021 iMac announced by Apple yesterday, as well as the 2020 MacBook Air.
