A Navy Hospital Corpsman shot and wounded two people on Tuesday at an office park in Frederick, Maryland, then headed to Fort Detrick, where he was fatally shot by personnel there, officials say.
The 38-year-old gunman shot two men at a company in Riverside Tech Park in the 8400 block of Progress Drive, Frederick authorities said. They did not name the company and it was not clear whether the shooting took place indoors or outdoors.
Information about the relationship between the suspect and the victims has not been immediately released.

Police Chief Jason Lando, Frederick’s Police Chief, said authorities received a call at 8:20 PM about an “active gunman” situation at Riverside Tech Park. People fled the company, he said.
Soon after, Lando said, authorities received information that the suspect had traveled to Fort Detrick, about 10 minutes’ drive away, where the suspect was shot. Lifesaving attempts were made against the suspect, but they failed, Lando said.
Lando said there was only one shooter and there is no public threat.
“We have two different scenes. I can only tell you that we’ve confirmed there is only one shooter, ”Lando said. The public is no longer at risk. Everyone is safe. “
In a statement, the Navy said, “The US Navy can confirm that there was an active shooting incident at Fort Detrick, MD involving US Navy Sailors. The shooter, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, has died. We will continue to update with additional details as the situation evolves. “
The two victims of the office park were flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma. They are in critical condition, authorities said. No one else was hurt.
Jeremy Mutschler, Marketing Director of Nicolock Paving Stones, said he understands the shooting took place near the company’s Frederick location, but not at the company itself.
“One of the victims who was injured entered our facility looking for help and we were able to help and call the authorities,” said Mutschler, who is based in New York.
Several roads in the shooting area were closed.
Several Frederick County public schools were “briefly placed on exclusion status,” the district said in a tweet. “All students and employees are safe. The lockout has been lifted, ”said FCPS officials.
Frederick Community College sent a lockdown alarm and then released an everything. “There is no threat on the FCC campus,” the school said in a tweet.
Authorities expect to release another update on Tuesday afternoon, they said.
