URBANA – Local authorities are taking two more restaurant operators in Champaign County to court after both restaurants reportedly remained open after their health permits were suspended.

Charged with violation of the ordinance for working without a valid health license were Charles Buck of Billy Bob’s, 105 E. Broadway St., Ogden, and Jeff Buckler, owner of Lil Bufords, 102 N. Long St., Tolono.

The Champaign County Public Health Department has suspended permits for both restaurants after allegedly observing them serving indoors in violation of a state order.

Inside work at both bars and restaurants is currently banned due to the spread of COVID-19.

Lil Buford’s license was suspended on December 17, and Billy Bob’s license on December 11.

Buck and Buckler would both be taken to court on January 21.

Late last week, public health officials in Champaign County had suspended seven health permits in connection with defying state order by filing in.
