It’s been a struggle for seniors to get a spot, despite tens of thousands of vaccines arriving in South Florida.

Sunday morning, the Florida Department of Health in Broward County’s web site to schedule an appointment was back up and running after being offline for several days, but at 9:30 AM it was back down with a message saying, “We apologize. This site has been removed for maintenance in order to better serve you. Thank you.”

The health department has issued a statement about making an appointment:

If the website has been fixed and you notice that appointments are not available, check back periodically as we increase the number of senior vaccination sites in Broward County in the coming weeks.

If you registered before, you should have received an email confirmation. Check your spam or junk mail folders. For all future appointments, a confirmation email will be sent within 48 hours of registration.

Individuals who receive a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will automatically receive an appointment for the second dose 21 days later.

Vaccinations are available for free, but you must have an appointment to appear at one of the newly opened drive-thru sites.
