1,959 new COVID cases, 22 deaths, 65K vaccinations – NBC Chicago

Health officials in Illinois reported 1,959 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus and 22 additional deaths in the past day, along with more than 65,000 vaccinations administered.

The newly reported coronavirus cases bring the state to a total of 1,304,200 cases since the start of the pandemic. The 22 additional deaths increased the total death toll to 21,685, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In the past 24 hours, 47,506 coronavirus test samples have been returned to state laboratories, of which more than 21.7 million have now been performed during the pandemic.

The statewide positivity held steadily on Monday, with 4% of all tests returning positive results. The positivity rate for individuals tested in the past seven days also remained at 4.7% according to IDPH data.

According to the latest data, the state reported 65,233 vaccinations in the past day. The vaccinations brought the seven-day rolling average of the vaccines administered to 125,212 doses.

As of Monday, the state has administered more than 8 million doses of coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic, while 9,930,945 doses were received.

As of midnight, 2,128 patients were hospitalized for COVID, with the numbers gradually increasing over the past month. Of those patients, 491 are on intensive care beds and 227 on state fans.
