16 members of a family die of Covid-19 after attending funeral of infected uncle | News from El Salvador

In an unusual case, nearly an entire family died from the COVID-19 infection. It happened in the Cuautitlán Izcalli Municipality, Mexico City.

According to local media as a newspaper The Millennium, It all started a few months ago when a distant uncle of the family died of the coronavirus and a large number of family members attended the funeral and candlelight, without a real conscience of what they were exposed to.

‘I haven’t even had time to cry, I’m a bit stunned. My mom passed away the day before, my dad is still sick at home, and my sister has already managed to make ends meet. I don’t know where I have the strength to continue, ” says José Martín Chávez Enríquez, 32, always daily The Millennium.

In all, 16 people were members of that family who died of Covid-19.

“Many family members were infected and as time went on the virus was wiped out, almost all of the family wiped out, they got sick until they died. My mother was 62 years old, I cremated her and I have her remains at home because I hardly had time to go to the cemetery, ”the family member added.

Chávez Enríquez confessed that he also went to the family member’s funeral, but that he was one of the few who did not become infected, so he had to watch his loved ones die little by little amid his helplessness to help them.

He also assured the Mexican media that “he agreed to the interview because his goal is for all people to find out and raise awareness so that they take care of themselves and protect themselves from this disease, which is not a game.”

Although the event took place last year, Chávez Enríquez spoke to the media until this week about what had happened.

Mexico is the fourth country in the world with the most deaths from COVID-19.
