In a scenario of a recovery of COVID-19 cases in Puerto Rico, this morning’s Department of Health report reported 1,519 positive cases of the virus and five additional deaths.

Of the additional 1,519 positives, 622 were confirmed by molecular testing, while 259 cases are antigen test positive and 638 are serological test positives.

The deceased, as reported today, were three women and two men, ages 73 to 87. In Puerto Rico, 2,126 people have already died from the new virus.

The total number of confirmed cases in Puerto Rico is 98,917. Of these, the recovered reach 95,908. The positivity rate is 10.9%.

The increase in the number of infections is also reflected in the number of hospital admissions, which are now 250. Among those 250 people hospitalized, there are 22 pediatric cases. 43 people live in the Intensive Care Unit and 27 are connected to a respirator.

According to data from the health department, there are approximately 379,756 people on the island who have completed the vaccination cycle.

The Scientific Coalition, appointed by Governor Pedro Pierluisi, urged more restrictive measures to be taken in light of the recovery of COVID-19 cases on the island. They warned that if nothing is done, the island will be the worst-case scenario since the start of the pandemic in late April.
