“The troops, trying to protect the community, were attacked by arbitrary use of explosives, resulting in the murder of one of our NCOs, seven wounded and / or bruised soldiers, and an air force plane hit.” said General Zapateiro.

The army commander pointed out that the murdered soldier is the third corporal Diego Ricardo Gómez, from the institution’s third division.

Last March, more than 2,000 people left El Plateado due to clashes between illegal armed groups, according to a report by the Ombudsman’s office.
