Oregon ended January with a modest week-to-week increase in coronavirus cases, halting the sharp downward trajectory that showed signs of progress.
The state registered 4,786 confirmed or suspected coronavirus infections for the week ending Sunday, January 31, a 16% increase from the previous week. The increase in cases exceeded a 2% gain in weekly tests.
Weekly cases are about half that of December records. But they remain much higher than ever before, with weekly cases roughly double the peak from July.
ZIP codes up and down the Interstate 5 corridor, from Portland to Medford, recorded the most new cases of coronavirus last week.
