1 of 2 people wanted for a shooting involved in an officer taken into custody near Spring

SPRING, Texas – One of two people wanted on Wednesday after a shooting by an officer involved near Spring was taken into custody.

The search began around 1:40 PM in the area of Interstate 45 and Rayford Road.

Sgt. Erik Burse, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said a trooper had stopped a white Chevrolet pickup truck with 28-year-old Tyler Goodson and 29-year-old Rebecca Orange in it. He said both people refused to identify with the trooper, so the trooper requested a deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to come on site and help identify them.

Burse said that while the identification was in progress, Goodson jumped back into the truck and drove away as Orange fled on foot. He said that while Goodson was driving off, he tried to run over the deputy sheriff and authorities fired at the vehicle.

The pickup was later found abandoned, Burse said.

Orange was later found and taken into custody, officials said. Multiple law enforcement agencies are still looking for Goodson.
